It took me a good couple of years to readjust to life back on PEI. The culture, the mentality, the pace.

So many things about PEI seems off, backwards and all the nine yards.

At the same time, I, like so many others, returned home because we knew there was goodness here. Goodness in the people, in their intentions, in the land and in the quality of life.

So nothing frustrates me more than trying to find a niche, a way to make a comfortable living from the comforts of the best freakin’ Island this side of Belize. As an entrepreneur, it’s a frustration that motivates me rather than causes me to throw my hands up in despair. Somethings got to give right?

Sometimes I feel like I’m stuck on LOST.

LOST on PEI

There is a paradox here on PEI. On the one hand, we want the big box stores, name brands and a “city-feel” to our little village. Yet on the other hand, we don’t want to change our mentality, our industries, our level of education even.

How can our two sides co-exist and flourish even?

If the fishing industry is dying, can we change things for fishermen?

If the tourism industry is drying up, can we attract a new kind of tourist?

If education is the barrier of quality employment, can we teach an old dog new tricks?

But a wise man once told me you can’t help those who don’t want it. Don’t force yourself, your ideology, your perception of a positive outcome on others. Never give unsolicited advice.

Sadly it’s one of the truest piece of advice I have ever received. In fact, it may well be the pivot that this blog needs.

The big question is – Can you help others who don’t want your kind of help? Should you even bother and who the hell do you think you are anyway?

Help me here to understand… I’m asking for your advice.

This blog began as a way to explore online dating, discuss relationship issues and find out how people were doing on PEI.

It was about me, but mostly it was about you.

The time has come for peipie.ca to pivot. Change directions of this website and do something different. That’s not to say that I don’t think PEI has solved all their love problems, found all their soulmates and are taking better pictures…

No, what I’m saying is that I will leave the online dating issues for some other blogger. We all know there’s a whole world of people with opinions. You should have no troubles finding someone to tell you how to date. Or you could just talk to your grandmother.

In the next couple of weeks this site will change and the topics will too.

I hope you stay tuned and if not, I wish you all the best in your search for love, whether it be offline, online or somewhere in between.
